Spoke too soon.

Well yesterday I was bragging about how Jenelle never gets sick. Well, I spoke too soon. Jenelle was throwing up all night on Tuesday. Poor kiddo. She was up about 5 times. It's no fun cleaning that stuff up. Then just as I was about to fall back asleep, there would be another vomit episode. I was so tired the next day. My brunch got canceled because no one wanted to come over and have their kids exposed to the stomach bug. We had to cancel the sleepover too. Today we are getting huge amounts of snow so Jenelle's play date was canceled. But we're still going to have fun. Curt is "working" at home today. We'll all go outside in the snow soon.

Hopefully my sister's flight won't be hugely delayed tomorrow. Check back soon. I'll try to post a picture of all the snow we're getting.

Spring Break

We are enjoying our Spring Break so far. We went to story time at Starbucks yesterday. Starbucks does a great job. They have snacks for the kids and a fun craft along with some great books.

Spring Break came at a good time. Strep throat is going around Jenelle's class at school. Three kids have gotten it. Mrs. Hart was going to give all the desks a good cleaning this week. Jenelle has been fine. She has had a little sniffle and that's it. Just a day or two with a little sniff sniff. Not a runny nose. Not a cough. Well, Curt and I caught whatever she had and we're both sick. Really sick. Runny nose, sore throat, cough and tired! I can't tell you how many times this has happened. Jenelle comes home with a sniffle and we end up getting deathly ill. Curt and I will recover soon. At least we're both sick at the same time. We can commiserate together.

Today Jenelle has a friend in the neighborhood over. Tomorrow my friends are coming over for brunch with their kids. Jenelle has a sleep over planned with Emmeri tomorrow night. She is very excited about it. Thursday we have a play date planned and then Friday my sister comes to town. Jenelle is very excited to spend time with her cousins. I'm excited to see them, too!

Happy Spring!

Hiking like a trooper.

We had a fun weekend. We went hiking. On Sunday we went on the Matthews Winters hike. What a boring trail! This trail lacks any real scenery. Why do we do it then? Because it's dry this time of year. No sloppy mud on this trail. The best part of the hike was all the cute dogs we saw. Probably not a good thing because Jenelle has been asking for a dog a lot lately.

On Saturday we went to Roxborough Park. This trail has beautiful red rocks and when you get high enough you can see downtown Denver. We are making Jenelle walk this year. She is way too big and heavy for Curt to be carrying her around. She is doing really well. She is a little pokey and she wants to rest a lot, but that's ok. I secretly enjoy the rest time, too. We always come home with lots of outdoor treasures. Yesterday she brought home pine cones, acorns and rocks. Curt and I are going to need to get bigger pockets to carry all her stuff. :) Yesterday was especially cool because we saw tons of deer. We even saw a coyote for the first time.

We're going to Mexico, Baby!

We booked our trip. I can't tell you how excited we are. We're going May 1st. Seven more weeks! We are going to the Barcelo Maya Resort about an hour south of Cancun. We've been there before. This place is awesome. They have tons of water sports: wind surfing, snorkeling, water bikes and kayaks. The beach is great, too. The water is shallow for a long time and there aren't any rocks in the water. It's like playing at a zero depth pool, but you have tons of beach sand. Last year the ocean was rocky. Jenelle wouldn't even walk in the water with water shoes. Someone had to carry her in the ocean the whole time.

And who can forget the crazy fish? We fed those fish every day. The place was beautiful and we had the best time. I would go there again and again. Check out the slide show of pictures from our last vacation there.

This may be the last affordable vacation. Barack Obama will have us all paying tons of taxes soon. So we're going to live it up and enjoy every single moment.

Playdate fun.

Jenelle had Emmeri over to play on Thursday. We went to the park, the library and then home to play. The girls played and made necklaces. I got a few things done around the house. I was cleaning the kitchen when Jenelle came downstairs crying. She said a comb fell in the toilet and Emmeri was going poop. What?! I went upstairs and sure enough, Emmeri was going to the bathroom and there was a comb in the toilet. I fished out the comb and made Jenelle leave the room.

I guess you need a little background. I don't supervise every moment of a play date. I keep my ears open, but I don't follow them around the house. Maybe I need to pay a little more attention. Anyway, Jenelle was goofing around with the comb while Emmeri was going potty. I guess when your six years old you don't require a lot of privacy in the bathroom. Jenelle threw the comb at Emmeri and that's how it ended up in the toilet.

It was Curt's comb. Curt opted to throw the comb away. Good choice! We'll have to work on some bathroom rules with Jenelle.

Silly things kids do.

Jenelle had a play date over at Tess' house this weekend. Grandma-ma babysits for Tess and sometimes Jenelle goes over there to play too. I've complained in the past that Jenelle picks up bad habits and attitudes from Tess. Tess is a 2nd grader and Jenelle imitates everything she does. One time Jenelle came home with tons of makeup on her face.

Well this past Saturday Jenelle came home smelling something horrible. Like super cheap perfume. I figured Tess sprayed it on her. Nope. Jenelle sprayed herself. It was flowery and gross. Curt even said she smelled bad. After talking to Grandma-ma and Jenelle, I figured out that Jenelle had sprayed herself with air deodorizer. You know, that air freshener stuff that people keep in their bathrooms. We don't have that at our house and I don't think she had ever seen it before. Jenelle said she thought it was soap.
